Lions DE Da’Shawn Hand returns against Giants; Slay, Strong, Daniels out

Detroit's Ford Field hours before kickoff

DETROIT — While the Lions’ defensive line will welcome Da’Shawn Hand for his first game of the season, Detroit will be missing a few key elements facing the N.Y. Giants today at Ford Field.

The Lions (2-3-1) hope to snap their three-game losing streak against the Giants (2-7).

Cornerback Darius Slay (hamstring) was declared out on Friday. This will be second game he has missed in last four weeks.

Defensive tackle Mike Daniels (foot) will miss his fourth straight game. Also, cornerback Amani Oruwariye (knee) is out. He’s played in just one of the first seven games.

Defensive tackle Kevin Strong, who had a good game against the Vikings, is out. He was not on the injury report this week.

Damon “Snacks” Harrison (groin) is active after being listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report.

Fullback Nick Bawden (foot) is also active after being listed as questionable.

Other Lions inactives: QB David Blough, guard Beau Benzschawel and OL Oday Oboushi.
